Version 0.1 (11/24/98): The first version of this FAQ. ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 2. Introduction -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the HIGHLY anticipated game to hit the Nintendo 64 in November 1998. It is the first new console Zelda game since 1991, and with it comes plenty of new changes. Of course it is the first 3D adventure with Link, and it comes with a wide array of new items, new gameplay mechanics, and a brand new epic story. It is certainly living up to the hype, and so any hardcore gamer (especially Zelda fans) must play this! ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 3. Story -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= A long time ago... Before life began, before the world had form, three golden goddesses descended upon the chaotic land of Hyrule. They were Din, the Goddess of Power, Nayru, the Goddess of Wisdom and Farore, the Goddess of Courage. Din, with her strong flaming arms, cultivated the land to create the earth. Nayru poured her wisdom onto the earth to give the spirit of law to the world. Farore's rich soul created all life forms who would uphold the law. These three great goddesses returned to the heavens, leaving behind the golden sacred Triforce. Since then, the Triforce has become the basis for Hyrule's providence. Where the Triforce stood became sacred land. In the vast, deep forest of Hyrule, the Great Deku Tree served as the guardian spirit. The children of the forest, the Kokiri, lived with the Great Deku Tree. Each Kokiri had his or her own guardian fairy, except one. His name was Link. Early one morning, Link was having a nightmare. It was the same nightmare he had every night. During a storm, Link would find himself standing in front of a mysterious castle. A rider on horseback, carrying a girl, would race by. The girl would look at Link as if to say something. Then, another rider would appear. This big man clad in black would look down menacingly at Link. Link would then awaken. "Link! Hey, get up, Link! The Great Deku Tree wants to talk to you!" As Link opened his eyes, he saw a fairy floating in front of him. This fairy's name was Navi. Navi was sent to summon Link to the Great Deku Tree. "Oh Navi, thou hast returned!" said the Deku Tree. "Thank you, Link, for coming. Thy slumber these past moons must have been restless, and full of nightmares. A vile climate pervades this world. Verily, ye have felt it. The time has come to test thine courage. I have been cursed. I need you to dispel the curse with your wisdom and courage. Art thou prepared?" Link entered the Great Deku Tree and broke the curse. "Well done, Link! I knew that ye were worthy of carrying out my wishes. A wicked man of the desert cast this dreadful curse on me. Employing his vile, sorcerous energies, the evil one is searching for the sacred realm connected to Hyrule. For it is there that one will find the divine relic, the Triforce, that contains the essence of the gods. Whoever holds the Triforce can make their wishes come true. Thou must never allow the desert man to lay his hands on the sacred Triforce. Thou must never suffer that man to enter the sacred realm of legend. Link, go now to Hyrule Castle. There, ye will surely meet the Princess of destiny. Present this stone to the Princess. I have foreseen that she will understand everything." The Great Deku Tree gave Link the spiritual stone of the forest. Before dying, the Deku Tree's last words were, "The future depends upon thee, Link. Thou art courageous." ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 4. Walkthrough -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Kokiri Forest ------------- You start the game sleeping inside your home in the Kokiri Forest. When Navi the Fairy comes, you'll wake up. Leave your house and run up the small hill and go to the left. Go around or climb over the fences to reach the wall. When the Action button says "Enter", push A and crawl through the passageway. There will be a maze with a boulder moving through it. Get through the back of the maze and open the chest there to get the Kokiri Sword. Get back out by crawling through the passage again. Run around the grassy areas, jump across the river with square-shaped rocks, and go into Mido's Home and open the chests to find some rupees. When you have at least 40 Rupees, go to the Shop and buy the Deku Shield. Now, go towards the path to the Deku Tree and talk to Mido. If you have your sword and shield equipped, he'll let you pass through the path to talk to the Tree. Talk to the Deku Tree and hear what he has to say until it opens up in front. When you can move again, enter the tree through that opening. The Great Deku Tree ------------------- Inside the Great Deku Tree, defeat the enemies there and get some Deku Nuts and Deku Sticks. Also, cut down bushes to get nuts, rupees, and even hearts! Climb the ladder to reach the second floor, where you'll find the Map in a chest. Jump across the gap to the right of the chest and enter the door there. When the Deku Scrub in the center of the room attacks, just use your shield and reflect the nut back at him. When it hits, try and catch him and he'll give you information on how to defeat his other brothers. Go to the next room and run through the room, jumping on the gray block, then the other side before it crumbles. Open the chest to get the Fairy Slingshot, your first side weapon! Since the block crumbled, you can't find a way back across, so it's time to use your slingshot. Aim at the ladder high above you, and it'll fall, giving you access to the door again! Get back into the main area and shoot the Skulltulas crawling on the vine-like walls above the chest with the Map. After they're all defeated, climb up the wall and touch ground up there to get to the third floor. Go a little bit to the right and enter the door there. Take out a Deku Stick and light it up, then light the other torch in the room to leave the room afterwards. Push the switch and the three platforms in middle of the room will rise for a limited time. Jump across the platforms to the other side and open the chest to get the Compass. To get back to the other side without the platforms risen, run to the other side and climb up the wall. Go back into the main area and defeat any of the Skulltulas hanging above the edges of the walkways by swinging your sword at their soft bellies twice. Then, go to the edge of the platform facing the center, and then look down at the web. Jump off the ledge and fall through the web, destroying it. You'll now be able to reach the basement this way! Get onto dry land and take out another Deku Stick and light it up. Now, run across the shallow water to the other side by the webs and burn the web apart and go through the door. Defeat the enemies there and aim your slingshot at the eye above the door and shoot to raise the bars blocking it. Go through the door, and dive underwater and push the switch to lower the water. Get back to the entrance of the room and wait for the platform to reach your side. Then, get on and let it take you across the water to the other side. (Don't worry about the spiked log, it won't hit you, but it'll hurt if you didn't push the switch!) Defeat the Skulltula and pull the block across the floor so you can reach the door. Defeat the Deku Baba here, then take a Deku Stick and light the two torches here to open the door. Go into the next room, but watch out; three enemies will fall from the ceiling to attack, so be prepared. Light up a Deku Stick after that and burn the web blocking access to the next room. Go into the room and defeat the Deku Babas, then push the block into the water. Then, jump into the water and get onto the ledge with the lit torch on it. Light up a Deku Stick by it and jump from the platform onto the block, then onto the other side. Swing the Stick down above the web on the floor to burn it apart. Fall into the hole and surface on the dry land again. This time, there are three Deku Scrubs there and you can only beat them in a certain order. I believe the order in killing them is: 3 1 2. When you hit the last one, it'll start moving around the room, so catch it. He'll give you a tip on defeating the boss in the next room, then leave. Refill your hearts if needed and go into the next room and look up at the ceiling. The boss, Gohma, will see you and jump onto the floor to attack. Read the Bosses section of this guide for information on beating Gohma. After you beat it, take the Heart Container and go to the light to exit the Deku Tree! Kokiri Forest ------------- Back outside, listen to what the Deku Tree has to say. It'll then give you the Kokiri Emerald, which is also the first Spiritual Stone! Now, leave the area and talk to Mido at the end of the path. When he leaves, exit the forest and as you leave, Saria will talk to you. She'll give you the Fairy Ocarina, then it's off to Hyrule Castle! On your way out, talk with the owl, then go on out to Hyrule Field. Hyrule Field ------------ Now that you're done with Kokiri Forest, it's time to go to Hyrule Castle! From where you spoke with the owl, follow the path through Hyrule Field to the castle gates. You may be stuck fighting throughout the night if you can't get there before sunset. No worry because you can fend off the skeletons that come out during the night and even get some quick rupees! When morning comes, run across the drawbridge and into the Market. Market ------ Stop at the guardhouse right after you cross the bridge and destroy all the pots for an easy bunch of rupees. Don't enter the Bazaar and buy the Hylian Shield yet; you can get a discount on it later if you wait a bit. Go through the Market and follow the path out of it to the castle. Outside Hyrule Castle --------------------- You can't enter through the gates because they're closed and guards are everywhere, so you're going to sneak in! First, climb the wall with vines on it and run across until you're at the other side of the gate below. Then, drop down and purposely get yourself caught by one of the guards standing around. When you're back outside, go back to the wall with the vines and Malon will be there. Speak with Malon to get a Weird Egg, then climb the wall. Run across to the gate and go down the ladder and exit the door to get past it. Now the tricky part is avoiding the guards, and I'll try and describe how to get past them as good as I can. When the path turns left for the first time, run up the hill and into the grassy area. Run past the guard and follow the path through the grass to the castle. Before you reach the castle, turn off the path to the left and climb up the wall to the left of the guard and the main entrance. Jump down into the water and swim down the stream until you reach the end where it's blocked. Jump out and walk towards the sleeping man. By now, your Weird Egg has hatched, so use the Rooster to wake him up! He'll talk to you, then run away. Now, push and/or pull the two blocks where he was sitting and push them both over the edge. Jump across to the door with an opening with water coming out and crawl in. Hyrule Castle ------------- Go through the Castle Courtyard while avoiding ALL the guards along the way until you reach Princess Zelda at the end of all that stuff. Talk to her and listen to her story, then she'll give you a letter, which allows you to get through guarded gates without a problem. As you leave, you'll run into Impa. Talk to her and she'll teach you Zelda's Lullaby and escort you out of the castle, away from the guards. Now, run through Hyrule Field until you reach Lon Lon Ranch near the middle of the field. Lon Lon Ranch ------------- Enter the first house to the left and talk to Talon, the man you woke up at the castle. He'll play a game with you for some rupees; find his three special cuccos and get a Bottle filled with Lon Lon Milk! After you win, go into the ranch itself and talk to Malon. Use your Ocarina and she'll teach you Epona's Song. After that, leave the ranch and head east of the castle to Kakariko Village. Get to Kakariko Village by crossing the bridge over the stream east of the castle and run up the stairs in the mountain to reach the town. Kakariko Village ---------------- Now that you're in Kakariko Village, go up the stairs to the left of the main path, and then go up the next set of stairs near the lookout tower. Go up to the guard by the gate and show him Zelda's Letter. He'll talk to you and he'll eventually tell you to go to the Market and buy the Hylian Shield. You'll get a discount on it after talking to him! While you're in the Market, stop by in the now open Happy Mask Shop and borrow the Keaton Mask. Now that you have the mask and the shield, go to the Lost Woods by entering it from Kokiri Forest. Lost Woods ---------- From the entrance to the woods, go right into the next area, then go left. Turn right again, and then go left through a couple of areas. Then, turn left and finally turn right. Go through the maze at the Sacred Forest Meadow, and talk to Saria at the end. She'll teach you Saria's Song, which lets you speak with her anytime. After that, get all the way back to Kakariko Village by the gate like before. Now that the gate is opened, it's time to go up Death Mountain! Death Mountain Trail -------------------- As you head up the mountainside, you'll see the Dodongo's Cavern, but there's a boulder blocking the entrance, so just continue up the path for now. When the path splits, take the right path to Goron City. Goron City ---------- Once there, walk the tightrope right across to the lone Goron sitting on a platform. Talk to him to hear about his brother, Darunia, then walk back across to the ledges by the entrance. Go down the stairs all the way to the bottom level and step on the mat in front of the closed door. Take out your Ocarina and play Zelda's Lullaby. Then, when the door opens, stand on the mat in front of Darunia and play Saria's Song to make him dance! After he's done dancing, he'll give you the Goron's Bracelet, which lets you pick up the Bomb Flowers. Now, leave Goron City. Back outside, find the area where there's a Goron sitting by a group of Bomb Flowers. Then, pick up a Bomb Flower and throw it over the edge at the cavern far below. If you threw well, you'll destroy the boulder, granting you access to Dodongo's Cavern! Go back down the mountain and enter the cave. Dodongo's Cavern ---------------- From the start, go down the right hill and hug the wall to the right of the lava pool to reach dry land on the other side. Climb up the ladder and take the Bomb Flowers and use them to blow open the doors and the Beamos. Enter the last door and watch out for the enemies here; they explode shortly after you defeat them. At the end of this long room, push an Armos statue onto the switch to remove the bars blocking the door. Enter the door and go down the hallway, then enter the next door. Get ready for a little fight here against two very agile Lizalfos. After you beat them, go and enter the next door at the back of this room. Defeat the Dodongos here by getting behind them and hitting their tails with your sword a few times. After they're all defeated, light a Deku Stick and light the other three torches in the room to open the door out of there. Continue through the next room until you end up in the main area again. This time, make your way to the other side of the room and blow open the doors there, too. In the middle room, be sure to take the Map after bombing the room open. Enter the door at the end closest to the big dinosaur head. The secret here is to detonate ALL the Bomb Flowers here at once. To do that, pick a Bomb Flower that's NOT on the gray ledge and put it in the empty space in the middle of the ledge. When it explodes, so will the other flowers, which will now trigger the stairs to come down. Climb the stairs and the wall up to the next floor and land on either side because it doesn't matter. Follow the path to where the path connects with the other one and turn left/right depending on what side you're on, and enter the next room. Push all the Armos until you find the one that's a statue and push it away from the ladder so you can get up there. Push the switch to open the door to the next room. In the next room, just run down the hall and make the jump between the broken bridge. In the next room, avoid the blade traps and make your way to the other end of the room. Then, jump on the block and on the ledge right in front of the door. Turn around and jump onto the platform with the Bomb Flower, and pick it up and throw it so it sits on the ledge that you were just standing on. If successful, you'll destroy the door, giving you access to the next room. Go through the path and defeat the Lizalfos in the following room with your sword. Then, enter the next room and follow the hallway through the next room, too. Go through the next hallway and you'll end up in the room you skipped before. Jump across the gap and open up the chest to get the Bomb Bag, which lets you carry Bombs! As a bonus, it already has 20 Bombs inside it! Go through the next hallway and press the switch there to raise a pillar from the bottom of the area to bring you down there quickly when needed. Walk along the ledges and you'll see a bridge. There are two holes in the bridge, which you can easily jump over. Stand next to each hole and drop a Bomb into each of the eyes of the big head below. When Bombs are dropped into both holes, the mouth will open, giving you access to the rest of the cavern. Use the pillar you activated before to get down there and enter the room inside the mouth. Enter the next room and defeat the flying bats here. Then, follow the reachable path around through a couple rooms. Then, follow another path back to the same room, but right behind a block! Push the block down and into the hole where the switch is in middle of the room. Then, enter the next room and drop into the lair of King Dodongo! Read the Bosses section of this guide to find out how to beat the giant bomb-eater. After you beat it, take the Heart Container and exit the cavern via the circle of light. Death Mountain Trail -------------------- After you exit the Cavern, Darunia will thank you and give you the Goron's Ruby, which is the second Spiritual Stone! Now, you have to get to Zora's River. To get to Zora's River from Kakariko Village, go left after exiting the town and follow the river into the side of the mountain. Zora's River ------------ Follow Zora's River all the way up to the waterfall at the end. Stand in front of the falls and play Zelda's Lullaby with your Ocarina to open the cave behind the waterfall. Jump across into the cave to reach Zora's Domain. Zora's Domain ------------- Follow the dry path up to the Zora Shop and go up the hill and the stairs to reach King Zora. Stand on the platform and talk to him, and he'll tell you that Princess Ruto is missing! Get back down to the big lake downstairs in Zora's Domain. Dive in the water and swim towards the wall where the hill was, and go into the underwater hole because it leads to Lake Hylia. Lake Hylia ---------- Once there, swim a little bit out and dive underwater again and take the Bottle with a message inside. Then, go back to Zora's Domain through that underwater passage you used to get there. Zora's Domain ------------- In Zora's Domain, go back up the hill and show King Zora the message. He'll then move over, letting you get into Zora's Fountain and Jabu-Jabu. Go down to the shallow sections of the Domain and catch a fish in your Bottle, then go behind King Zora and head to Zora's Fountain, home of Jabu-Jabu! Zora's Fountain --------------- Feed Jabu-Jabu the fish by selecting the bottle and emptying its contents in front of the giant fish. He'll suck you into his mouth and you'll be in the new dungeon. Inside Jabu-Jabu ---------------- From the start, defeat all the enemies in the room, and then shoot the switch on the ceiling to open the door. Then, go right through the next room and enter the following room. (Don't worry, you'll come back to it later.) Talk to Princess Ruto and she'll walk away from you and fall into a hole in the floor. Save her by jumping into the hole after her and you'll land in the basement. Talk to her again and she'll finally let you carry her around. Go through the door behind you and go down the hallway while avoiding the floating bubbles. In the next room, drop into the middle area and throw Ruto onto the platform at the other side of the room. Then, press the switch to make the water rise, and swim up to reach the other side, too. Run through the next hallway, still avoiding the bubbles, and when you reach the door, turn around and shoot the switch in the ceiling to open it. Enter the next room and dodge the enemy's attacks while waiting for the floating platform to come down to the basement. When it comes, jump on and ride up to the first floor again where you were before. Walk along the ledge and enter the next room with the holes in the floor. This time, make your way to the other end of the room and enter the door to the next area. When the path splits, take the far right path and step on the switch. If the door shuts again if you get off the switch, place Ruto on the switch to keep it open for you. (This goes for all the switches in this area.) Defeat ALL the enemies in this room to get the Boomerang! Leave the room and take the left into the room with the holes. Get Ruto and head back to the room you were in. Go left when the path splits, then drop Ruto on the switch you see, and enter that room. Defeat the Red Parasitic Tentacle by aiming and throwing your Boomerang at its narrow weak spot a few times. After you beat it, open the chest that appears to get the Map. Leave this room and take the next path over to the left into another room. Destroy all the bubbles in 40 seconds to get the Compass. Leave that room and head to the right side of the room (consult the Map if you need help). Go into the northeast room and you'll find another Parasitic Tentacle here. Kill it like the other one, then exit this room. Now, take the middle path into the now-unblocked chamber. Defeat the Green Parasite Tentacle swinging from the ceiling. After you defeat it, the big barrier in the room with the holes will disappear. Go back to the room with the holes, get Ruto, then drop into the new hole. You'll drop onto a ledge in the basement, which you couldn't reach otherwise. Enter the door there and when she asks you to, throw Ruto onto the platform so she can get the jewel there. The platform will take her up a couple floors and bring a giant octopus down to attack! Defeat it by running around and around until you finally get behind it. Then, use the Boomerang and attack the weak spot with the sword. Repeat the process a few more times to defeat it, then climb onto the platform to get to the second floor. Go down the hallway and enter the next room. Use the Boomerang to make the shaky blocks stay still for a while, then jump across them to the other side! In the next room, jump onto the ledge and ride it down to the first floor again in that room you skipped earlier. This time, you're now able to reach the switch there. Get a crate from the nearby ledge and put it on the switch to keep the door open for you. Enter the next room and climb up the vines on the wall in back of the room. Stand a little bit back from the glass panel and use Z-Targeting to aim at the switch at the other side. Once your aim is set, throw the Boomerang so it swings around the glass and hits the switch! Now, get back down to the ground and enter the now opened door. Go down the hall and enter the next door to reach the boss, Barinade! Read the Bosses section of this guide for help with beating Barinade. Take the Heart Container after you beat it and leave Jabu- Jabu's stomach. Zora's Fountain --------------- When you're back outside again, Ruto will give you Zora's Sapphire, the last Spiritual Stone! After you get the last Spiritual Stone, head to Hyrule Castle to tell Zelda. When you get there, Gannondorf has come and Zelda has been taken from the castle with Impa. She'll drop the Ocarina of Time in the stream around the castle, so after the scene is over and you can move, dive into the water to get it. Once you get it, it will teach you the Song of Time. Now, enter the Market and head to the Temple of Time. Temple of Time -------------- Go to the Temple of Time and play the Song of Time in front of the altar to open the door. Enter the next room and take the Master Sword. You'll be warped ahead 7 years in time, and you'll meet Sheik and Rauru, the Sage of Light. Sheik and Sage Rauru will tell you to go to Kakariko Village, so leave the temple of head on over there. Kakariko Village ---------------- Once at the village, head to the graveyard and go up to the Royal Tomb, which is at the back end of the graveyard. Play Zelda's Lullaby to open up the tomb, then enter the underground chamber. Go all the way through the tomb until you reach the wall with the hieroglyphics in it. Read them to learn the Sun's Song, which makes the sun rise or set at anytime. Exit the tomb and head towards the spot where the bean hole used to be and pull on the tombstone at the end of the line. Go underground and Dampe will race you, so just follow him closely. When you get to the end, you'll get the Hookshot! After that, enter the last room and play the Song of Time to make the blue block disappear. Follow the path to get inside the windmill, then exit it through the door. Now, exit the village and go to Kokiri Forest, then enter the Lost Woods from there. Lost Woods ---------- In the Lost Woods, follow the path like before to reach the Sacred Forest Meadow. Make your way through the maze while avoiding the Moblins and the giant club-pounding enemy by the stairs. When you finally reach the meadow, Sheik will teach you the Minuet of Forest, which warps you to that spot at any time, no matter where you are! Use the Hookshot on the branch above you to reach the entrance of the Forest Temple. Forest Temple ------------- From the start, go ahead and defeat the 2 wolves. Climb the vines on the right wall and jump across the branches to retrieve a Key from the chest. Drop down and enter the next room. Defeat the Skulltula quickly with the Hookshot and enter the following area. In this main room (you'll return here alot, remember this room), the 4 poes will appear and vanish into the temple itself. So, go straight ahead, up the steps, and into that room. Defeat the Blue Bubble by letting it hit your shield, then kill it off with your sword. In the following room, kill off the 2 Stalfos by using Z-Targeting and attacking the instant they move their shields to attack you. Open the chest that appears to get the Key, then leave this room and return to the large main chamber. Here, go down the steps and into the right alcove (northwest, if looking at the Map). Play the Song of Time to clear the block, then enter that room. In this grassy chamber, defeat the giant plants and get to the right wall. Defeat the Skulltulas you can reach with the Hookshot, then climb up the vine wall. Get onto the first ledge you reach and enter that room. In there, defeat the Blue Bubble and collect the Map from the chest. In the next area, defeat the plant on the balcony. Look for the gray target above the adjacent balcony; Hookshot over to it and step on the switch to lower the water in the well below. Jump off the balcony or climb down the wall, then go down that now-drained well. Down there, go along the path and open the chest at the end to get a Key. Climb the vines and you'll be on a ledge in the above area again. Get to the door and go through to reach the main area once more. Back here again, go right and onto the west ledge. Go up and open the locked door, and enter that room. Kill the Skulltula and go through the door into the following room. In the next room, you'll be faced with a puzzle to solve. Climb up the ladder ahead, then up the next one. Follow the path as signified by the arrows on the floor, until you get behind the block. Push it ahead until it's aligned in the path you just walked around. Then, go up the ladder you just passed and walk around to find another block. Push it all the way ahead, then go back out and head right. Drop off the edge of the platform to the start of the room. Go up the ladders and push the blue block straight ahead. Go around the path and push the block until it falls into place. Now, climb atop the block and up the next couple ledges, and you'll find the other block again. Push it as far as you can, then jump onto it and the upper ledge. Go right and up the ladder, and continue onward. Defeat the 2 Blue Bubbles if you wish, otherwise go through the locked door and into that room. Head through this twisted hallway into the inverted room at the end. Jump across the ledges and head into the next area. Go down the steps and into the next room, where you'll have to fight 3 Stalfos in a difficult battle. Survive, then open the chest that appears to get the Fairy Bow! Now, go back to the previous room. You'll notice 3 picture frames on the walls throughout this chamber; one of which has a red ghost on it. Shoot the ghost in the picture with an arrow without getting too close. Do this for all 3 pictures and the real ghost will come out downstairs to attack. Kill it, then open the chest that appears to get a Key. Go through the door into the next room, then continue to the following chamber. In there, repeat the same process as before to kill the second ghost. Open the chest there to find the Compass. Before you can continue onward, it's time to backtrack. Make your way back a few rooms, until you're in that large room with the Blue Bubbles. Shoot the eye above the door you come out of with an arrow, and the twisted hallway will straighten out. Go back down that hall into the room at the end. Drop down to the ground and open the fancy chest to get the Boss Key. Next, drop into the hole in the floor to the room below. Defeat the Blue Bubbles in here, then go into the following room. Up here, go along the upper path, defeating the giant plant in the way. Go into the right alcove at the end and enter that room. Defeat the hand enemy, then open the chest to get a Key. Now that you have this, leave the room and head through the doorway to the side. In this large room again, get to the top area. Shoot the eye again to twist the following area. Now, continue through the next several rooms until you come to a locked door. This time, go through it into a new room. In this twisted room, drop down and climb onto the right ledge. Go down the straight hallway and unlock the door into the next room. Jump onto one of the rotating platforms, and ride it around. Aim an arrow at the iced eye switch on the wall, then when the torch is between you and the switch, shoot an arrow at it. The fiery arrow will melt the switch, inverting the previous hall. Go back down the hall and in the end room, drop through the hole in the floor and you'll be in another puzzle-like room. Run across the floor and the ceiling will fall. If you stand in certain spots, you'll be protected within the holes of the ceiling. Anyway, get to the switch and step on it. After the ceiling falls/rises, run across into the next room. In this next puzzle, shoot the picture on the wall with an arrow, and several puzzle blocks will fall from above. You must push them around to reconfigure the ghost's picture within a minute. When you do that, the ghost will come out to attack. Beat it, then go through the doorway on the ledge to reach a new room. Defeat the Skulltula and continue to the main room ahead. Here, jump off the balcony and confront the final ghost in the middle of the room. It'll send out 3 clones of itself, and spin around. Stand in the middle with the Bow and Arrow, and shoot at each one until you hit the real one. Do this 4 times to defeat it. Now, the elevator in the middle will finally rise again. Ride it down to the basement level. For this room, you have to rotate it around by pushing the stone slabs on the sides of the room. Rotate it a couple times, stepping into the side rooms and stepping on the switches there (3 total). Rotate the room until the north path is cleared, then enter the boss's room. The boss here is Phantom Ganon, so view the Bosses section for help beating him. Once he's dead you'll get a message from the real Gannondorf. After that, grab your Heart Container and get out of the temple via the blue light. After you exit the temple, you'll get the Forest Medallion from the Forest Sage, which is Saria. After you meet Saria again as a sage, head back to the Temple of Time. Once there, head to the room where the Master Sword was and Sheik will appear and teach you the Prelude of Light. He'll also tell you how to become a kid again. After he disappears again, since you don't need to be young right now, get to Kakariko Village, then go to the Death Mountain Trail and finally into Goron City. Goron City ---------- Stand on the level where the Goron is rolling around like a ball, and stand near the Bomb Flowers. When he comes closer, place a Bomb Flower in middle of the floor and it'll hopefully explode as he passes near it. When he stops and talks to you, he'll give you a Goron Tunic, which allows you to survive inside the Death Mountain Crater. Head down to the lowest level of the city and enter Darunia's room. He's not there right now, so try and pull on the statue in his room. Once the passage is revealed, follow the path to the crater. Death Mountain Crater --------------------- Once there, put on the tunic so you can last as long as you need in the crater. Then, walk up to the broken bridge and use the Hookshot to cross to the other side. Then, Sheik will appear again and teach you the Bolero of Fire, which warps you into the crater at any time. After that, follow the path to a ladder, which leads down to the Fire Temple. Fire Temple ----------- From the start of the temple, go up the stairs and enter the left room. After Darunia finishes talking to you, make your way to the left side of the room and push the switch to free a Goron. Enter the cell to claim a key, then leave this room. This time, enter the room at the other side. Make your way across the lava to the right side of the room and enter the room. Free the Goron and get the key, then leave that room. Now, get to the far end of the room and bomb the wall, then enter the room. Push the switch, free the Goron, and take the key, then leave the room. Back in the previous room, head over to the bridge. Cross the bridge and enter the room you haven't yet entered (use a key to enter), and slide down the wooden plank there. Climb the fence to the right and once at the top, defeat the bats, then drop onto the top of the platform below. Push the block off the edge so it covers up the flaming geyser on the ground. Then, jump on the block and you'll get a free ride up to the second floor. Here, ignore the imprisoned Goron for now. Climb onto and jump across the ledges to the one with the large block. Push the block over the edge, then jump down to the ground and push the block along its path until it stops. Next, climb back up the ledge and jump on top of the block, and climb the fence-like wall. Stand near the edge of the platform and shoot your Hookshot at the switch below, which extinguishes the flame at the bottom of the other wall. Quickly climb the other wall before the flames come back and enter the room up there. Avoid the boulders and make your way to the right, then into a small alcove where you can free a Goron and get a key. After that, get to the other end of the room and enter the room in another alcove. Free another Goron and take another key, then leave the room. Hug the right wall until you reach a door; enter it. Go across to the other end of the room and enter the other door, then walk across the wooden plank to the grill-like floor. Quickly run all the way to the other end of the room or else the curtain of fire behind you will hurt you badly. In the next room, jump onto the ledge where the Torch Slug is, and defeat it. Lay a bomb by the crack and jump to another ledge to avoid getting caught in an explosion. Drop into the hole it makes and free the Goron and get the key. Then, go back and climb up to the above room again. Get to the ledge with the switch on it. Push the switch, then make your way to the south end of the room. Go into the now opened cell and take the key, then drop down to the ground. Head to the other end of the room and enter the door to the left. Go across the platform and enter the next room and get onto the grill platforms. This time, instead of going to the end of the room, jump onto the ledge about halfway to the left and enter the room. Go down the hallway here and continue to the following room. There, go down and make your way through the fire wall maze to the locked door. Open it and enter that room. Pass the cell containing the Goron right now, and enter the other half of the maze room. Head towards the switch and push it, then run towards the other door before the fire curtain comes again to block access to it. Place a bomb by the door because it'll come to life, then enter the real door after the bomb explodes. Defeat the Flare Dancer in the room by using the Hookshot on its core, then attacking it with the sword. After it dies, climb onto the platform in middle of the room to ride up to the fourth floor. In the next room, climb the wall, hit the switch below, and climb the other wall like you did earlier, and enter the door. Hit the switch nearby and run up the stairs to get the Megaton Hammer! Go back down the stairs and use the hammer on the platform to drop to the fourth floor again. Hit the rusty switch with the hammer to lower the stairs, then pick up a box and carry it down the steps. Drop it on top of the switch to keep the door open, then enter the door to the next room. In the next room, hammer down the platform to drop down another floor. Hit the rusty switch, open the door, and jump across the gap to reach the blue block. Play the Song of Time in front of the block to make it disappear from this spot, then hammer the switch. Drop into the pit, free the Goron, get the key, and climb the blue block to reach the other side again. Jump across to the remaining platform and hammer it a couple times and get ready to freefall down a couple stories! Once there, exit through the door that leads to the entrance of the temple and go down the stairs. Hammer the statue apart and enter the room, then defeat the enemies there and enter the following room. Enter the next door and defeat the Flare Dancer there, then enter the next door. Push the switch, free the Goron, and get the Boss Key! Now, leave the room and go back up the stairs and enter the left door. Cross the lava pit and open the Boss Door to reach Volvagia, the dragon boss! Read the Bosses section of this guide to find out how to beat Volvagia. After you beat it, take the Heart Container and leave the temple through the blue light circle. Then, you'll be warped to the Chamber of Sages and get the Fire Medallion from Darunia, who turns out to be the Fire Sage! Now that you finished the Fire Temple in the Death Mountain Crater, head back down to Zora's Domain. Zora's Domain ------------- You'll see that the entire place turned into a frozen ice land, including King Zora! Go up and around the path near King Zora and go out to Zora's Fountain. Zora's Fountain --------------- In Zora's Fountain, go to where Jabu-Jabu was when you were a child. Jump from platform to platform on the floating ice platforms to the Ice Cavern at the other side. Ice Cavern ---------- From the entrance of the cavern, follow the path while avoiding the falling icicles and cutting apart icicles on the ground with your sword. In the first actual room, just go right through it and go through the path between the Red Ice blocks. In the next room, you're going to need to collect all five silver rupees to open another passageway. Then, follow the path that isn't blocked by Red Ice until you reach the next area. Defeat the ice enemies in the room and climb on top of the platforms and fill a few bottles with some Blue Fire. Next, go a little further on the ledges and use the Blue Fire to melt the ice around the chest so you can get the Map. Then, exit this room and go back to the previous area you were in with the silver rupees. This time, use another bottle of Blue Fire to melt the Red Ice at the door to the RIGHT, then follow that passage to the next room. Push the block around the room and collect each of the silver rupees to make the door open. Then, push the block to the ledge by the door, then climb the block and the ledge and enter the room. Before reaching the next area, use Blue Fire to melt the ice blocking access to the next room. Then, enter the room and defeat the Wolfos to get the Iron Boots! After you get the boots, Sheik will appear and teach you the Serenade of Water, which warps you to Lake Hylia at any time. Dive into the water hole while wearing the boots and follow the path to exit the room. Now, with a bottle of Blue Fire, leave the Ice Cavern. Now, go back into Zora's Domain and thaw out King Zora with the Blue Fire. He'll give you the Zora Tunic as a reward for saving him, which allows you to breathe underwater when you use the Iron Boots. After that, leave the domain and make your way back down the river to Hyrule Field. Now, go all the way to Lake Hylia, which is quite far to the east of the entrance to Kokiri Forest. Lake Hylia ---------- Once there, cross the bridges and you'll be on an island with the Triforce symbol on the floor. Drop down to the small pond in the lake since it's drained, and use the Iron Boots to stay in place on the floor. Use your Hookshot on the diamond-shaped switch above the gate to the Water Temple to open it up. Now, use the Iron Boots to sink to the bottom and walk into the underwater temple. Water Temple ------------ After you enter the temple, reach the central area and go right, then use the Iron Boots to sink to the bottom floor. Follow the passageway until you meet Ruto again, then take off the boots and float up to the third floor. Play Zelda's Lullaby at the Triforce symbol to drain the water completely, then enter the nearby room. In the next room, defeat the spike enemies and open the chest to get the Map, then leave the room. Drop down the hole to the first floor and use Din's Fire to light the torches, which open the door. Defeat the clam enemies (target them, and use the Hookshot on their soft insides when the shell opens) in the next room to get a key. Follow the path back to the central area. Get to the far end of the room and push the block there until it drops. Follow the path until you reach the room with the rapidly moving water. There, put on your Iron Boots when you're above the pipe. Use the Hookshot to hit the switch in the statue's mouth, then use it again to reach the target on the wall nearby. Take off the Iron Boots and float up above the clams into another room and get a key. Then, go back to the main area and then enter the tower in the center of the room. Use the Hookshot to reach a higher platform and play Zelda's Lullaby there to raise the water halfway. Then, use the Iron Boots to sink to the bottom of this room and follow the new passageway until you reach the switch. Hit the switch and defeat the various enemies to open the other gate in the ceiling. Float into the new opening and open the chest to get a key. Now, make your way back to the room where you changed the water level and enter the door above the water. In the main area, go right and use the Iron Boots to sink to the bottom, then follow the passage to where you met Ruto before. Then, float up to the second floor and bomb the cracked wall and get the key in the chest. Next, go back to the central area and float up to the second floor. From here, go to the far end of the room and use your key to open the door. Walk by the water and wait for the spider enemy to jump down, then defeat it with your sword and stand on the water. Use your Hookshot or arrows to shoot the nearby switch to be risen up to the next floor. Enter the next room and play Zelda's Lullaby by the Triforce symbol to raise the water completely. Then, go left and enter the room, and defeat the nearby bats in that room. After they're gone, drop down to the lowest platform and wait until it reaches its lowest point. Use the Hookshot to climb the platforms coming down the waterfall to reach the other side. Once there, continue to the next room. In the next room, get through by hitting the switch and using the Hookshot to reach the platforms, then eventually you'll reach the last platform. Stand on the statue-like head and hit the switch to go up to the door. Defeat the Like Like, then use the Hookshot to get over the spikes, and then enter the next room. Run across the room to the other door. Turn around and walk towards the tree to fight Dark Link. You can VERY easily defeat Dark Link by using your hammer because he can NOT copy it. You will just smash him, and he will even not defend himself nor attack you. After he's defeated, enter the next room. Open the chest to get the Longshot. Now, play the Song of Time behind the chest to make the block disappear. Drop into the hole and you'll be in an underground river. Drift down the river while avoiding the whirlpools and climb onto the ledge at the left wall near the end and shoot the eye switch with an arrow to open the nearby gate. Use the Longshot to reach the chest and get a key, then follow the path out to the rapid water room. Use the Longshot to cross the pool and then follow the path back to the central area. Back there, get to the far side of the room. Use the Iron Boots to reach the lowest room on that side, and follow that path to the room where you met Ruto and take off the boots to float upward. Once at the top, play Zelda's Lullaby to drain the water, then fall down the hole and make your way to the main area again. This time, enter the middle tower. Reach the upper ledge with the Longshot and play the lullaby again to raise the water level halfway. Leave the room and get to the back of the central area, and you'll see an eye switch. Shoot the switch with an arrow and use the Longshot on the target behind the gate before it shuts and follow the path until you reach a block. Push the block as far as it can go and go right and open the chest to get a key. Go straight out of the room and use the Longshot on the target in the ceiling, and you'll reach the main area again. Sink to the bottom of the room again and get to the right side, then go through that passage to the next room. Surface on the ledge in the room and use the Longshot to reach the other side by the door and use a key to open it. Get across the room while avoiding the spider enemies and the other obstacles and enter the next room. In the next room, defeat the Stinger enemies and drop down onto the ledge, then bomb the crack in the wall. In the new passage, pull the block as far as you can go, then get to the ledge across the water and bomb it, too. Then, enter that side of the passage and push the block as far as possible, then go back to the other side and pull the block some more. When you have enough room, get to the other side and push the block into the water so it pushes down the switch, which raises the water, giving you access to the door. Enter the next room and hit the switch with your sword, then quickly go across the rising water pillars to the other side. In the next room, put on your Iron Boots, then after the boulder passes you, go right and drop into the underwater passageway. Follow the passage to the end and take off your boots to float up to the surface and take the Boss Key from the chest in the following room. Now, make your way ALL the way back to the central area and float up to the surface of the water, and enter the room above you. Press the switch while you're standing on the water and go up to the top and play Zelda's Lullaby in the following ledge to completely raise the water level. Then, go left and stand on the platform across from the statue with the Longshot target. Aim your Longshot and go across the water and enter the next room. In the next room, run up the slope with the Blade Traps without getting hurt to reach the Boss's Room! (This may take a few times.) Jump onto one of the platforms in the water and the boss, Morpha will appear. Read the Bosses section of this guide to find out how to beat it. After you defeat Morpha, take the Heart Container and exit through the blue light. Lake Hylia ---------- Once outside, talk to Ruto and she'll give you the Water Medallion. Also, when you return to Lake Hylia after you beat the temple, the water will fill up again! While standing on the plateau above the Water Temple, stand on the wooden platform in front of the plaque, and wait until the sun rises in the morning. Shoot an arrow at the sun and a Fire Arrow will land on a nearby island, so swim over and get it! After that, it's time to go to Kakariko Village again. Kakariko Village ---------------- When you enter Kakariko Village, there'll be a house there in flames and Sheik will come and tell you about the demons that have come out of the well. Watch the scene for a moment, and when Sheik talks to you again, he'll teach you the Nocturne of Shadow. After that, go to the windmill and talk to him, then show him the ocarina. He'll teach you the Song of Storms, which lets you make the rain start or stop any time anywhere! Now that you know the song, go to the Temple of Time and revert back to your younger form, then go back to the windmill. Play the Song of Storms for the man, then leave the windmill and climb into the well. Kakariko Well ------------- From the start, crawl through the hole in the wall to reach the next room. Go down the ladder and defeat the Skulltula, then walk right through the wall at the end of the room. You'll go right through and appear in the next room. From there, take the path to the right and as you make the left, walk through the wall around the corner and open the chest to get a key. Continue down the hall and make another left at the end. Stand on the Triforce symbol on the ground and play Zelda's Lullaby to drain all the water in the well. At the end of this room, make a left and go down the hallway while trying to avoid the green flying skull thing. About halfway down the hall turn right and drop down to a chest containing a heart. Climb up the wall and enter the next room. Light all the torches with Din's Fire to open the caskets, then look in the one in back and to the left to find a key. Now, get back to the main hallway and continue down to the right. After you turn the corner, walk through the left wall and open the chest to get a key. After that, jump into the pit and crawl through the opening to reach the next area. Enter the next room and you'll see four arms sticking out of the ground. Let one capture you, then the main enemy will appear. Struggle to get out of the hand's grasp, then as the enemy lowers its head, attack with your sword. Repeat the process until he's defeated to get the Lens of Truth. Now, warp to the Temple of Time by using the Prelude of Light song, and become Adult Link again. Then, play the Nocturne of Shadow to warp to a point near the entrance to the Shadow Temple. Go down the steps and stand on the middle platform. Then, cast Din's Fire to light all the torches and open up the temple. Now, just go into the Shadow Temple! Shadow Temple ------------- From the start, walk up to the pit and use the Longshot to cross the gap to the other side, then walk right through the wall in front of you. In the next room, use the Lens of Truth to point out the real skull on the pedestals. Then, push the bird statue so that its beak is aiming at the real skull to open the door. You can't reach that door yet because a chasm separates you and the door, so turn around and use the Lens of Truth to find two passages in the wall. Enter the one to the right and in the next room, walk through the wall and go right. Use the Lens of Truth to reveal another secret area in the right wall. Enter that room and defeat the zombies and bats to get the Map, then go back to the previous room. This time in here, head right. Use the Lens of Truth to find yet another passage and go through it to reach the next room. In the next area, take the right path, then walk to the end of the room, and walk through the wall at the corner and open the door to the next room. In this room, you'll see many arms sticking out of the ground. Let one capture you, then the main enemy will appear. Struggle to get out of the hand's grasp, then as the enemy lowers its head, attack with your sword. Repeat the process until he's defeated to get the Hover Boots, which let you walk across water and air for a short period of time. After you get the boots; backtrack to the room with the bird statue and the door across the chasm and strap on your Hover Boots. Run across the chasm and go through the door to the next room. Go down the hill in the next room and defeat the Beamos statue with bombs, and then walk through the wall to the left. Find all the silver rupees to open the gate and get a key from the chest. Go back to the last room and bomb the remaining wall to the left and enter that room using a key. Run all the way to the big, open section of the room while destroying the Skulltulas along the way. Then, jump from platform to platform while avoiding getting cut by the guillotines until you reach the back of the room. Defeat the Stalfos Knight here and go right and wait for the moving platform to reach its lowest point, then jump down onto it. When it gets high enough, jump onto the small ledge to the right and walk along it to the other plateau. Get all the visible silver rupees, then bomb the Beamos statue to find the last one to open the door. In the next room, use the Lens of Truth on the wall to the right to find a hidden block. Pull the block out to the center of the room and push it through the room because it protects you from the spikes from above. At the end of the path, get to the other side of the block and climb on top of it, and then jump to the ledge to the right near the jail cell. Push the switch there, and it'll make a chest containing a key appear. Use the Longshot on the chest to cross the gap to reach the key. Now, leave the room and go back to the previous room. Cross the small ledge to the platform halfway across and jump down to the platform with the guillotine. Use the Lens of Truth to reveal the hidden platforms behind the one you're on and jump onto the first one and wait for the moving platform to reach you, then jump on. Ride it to the door and enter the next room using a key. In the next room, use the Longshot and the Hover Boots to collect all the silver rupees, then enter the door that just opened. Climb up the ledges to the top and throw a Bomb Flower into the flames of the skull statue. Drop down and get a key, then go back to the room you were just in. Use the Lens of Truth to reveal all the Longshot targets, spikes, and ledges. Aim at the target above the door on the upper ledge. Enter that door with a key. In here, put on your Iron Boots, then walk past the Blade Traps while going against the fan's wind gusts. Continue until you reach a pit, then use the Longshot on a wooden pole on the ceiling to cross the gap. Then, drop into the second pit in front of you and keep your Iron Boots on so you don't get blown away. When you reach the door, turn around and put on your Hover Boots and use the Lens of Truth to reveal the area behind the wall. Have the fan blow you across the gap to that hidden section, and open the door to the next room. In the next room, put a bomb on the pile to the right, and then use the Lens of Truth to reveal a chest with a key. Defeat the two mummies there and open the chest to get five rupees, then open the door with a key and enter the next room. In the next room, pull the block along its path until it falls into the small crease in the floor. Then, climb onto the block and jump onto the higher ledge and jump onto the ship nearby. Play Zelda's Lullaby on the Triforce symbol to get the ship moving. Defeat the Stalfos along your journey and when the ship stops at the end, put on your Hover Boots and run towards the dock down below. When you touch the ground, enter the door nearby to the next room. In that room, make your way through the maze of invisible walls to the right side of the room, and enter the door to the next room. There, the spiked walls will attempt to crush you in, but just use Din's Fire to destroy the walls and defeat the zombies to reveal the chest with the Boss Key. Leave the room and get across the room to the other side, using the Lens of Truth to reveal the hidden hand enemies. Enter the room directly across from where you came from. In there, defeat the hand enemy and its smaller counterparts to get a key. Now, go back to the room where you landed after the boat ride and stand between the pots at the inner edge of the platform. Shoot an arrow at the Bomb Flowers to detonate them and destroy the base of the statue. Walk across the fallen statue and enter the next room with the key. Use the Lens of Truth and the Hover Boots to cross the hidden platforms to the Boss's Room. Read the Bosses section for information on beating the boss, Bongo Bongo. After you beat it, take the Heart Container and exit the temple through the light. After you exit the temple, you'll be brought to the Chamber of the Sages, where you'll meet Impa again as the Shadow Sage. After she gives you the Shadow Medallion, get back into Hyrule Field and head southwest to Gerudo Valley. Gerudo Valley ------------- Go across the wooden bridge in the valley, then when you reach the broken bridge, use the Longshot to cross it! If you have Epona, simply get a good running start and jump over the chasm! Then, continue to the Gerudo Fortress and as you reach the fortress, the Gerudo guards will capture you and put you in jail! After that, shoot the Longshot at the wooden ledge above the window to get out, then enter the fortress through the door to the left. Gerudo Fortress --------------- When you reach the first carpenter, talk to him and fight the guard for the key. Then, follow the path outside and enter the door to the left. Go right and crouch behind the crate by using your shield until the Gerudo guard walks away. Then, exit the fortress again through the nearby door to the right. Then, go left and climb up the ledge and enter the left door before the Gerudo guard spots you and throws you in jail again! Talk to the second carpenter and defeat the guard to get a key, then free him. Go through the next door and exit the fortress, then jump off the ledge and enter the door in front of you. Talk to the next carpenter and defeat the guard to free him, then turn around and exit this room through the same door you entered. Climb back up the wall you jumped from and enter the door to the left this time. Get past the guards in the next couple rooms by shooting them with arrows and go up the stairs and exit the fortress yet again. Jump right off the ledge to the right and enter the last door and stand behind the crate. Pull out your bow and arrow, then shoot the guard the moment she comes onscreen and continue right. Talk to the final carpenter and defeat the guard to free him, then a Gerudo will come and talk to you. She'll give you the Gerudo's Card, which grants you access to any part of Gerudo Fortress without getting caught by guards! After that, exit the fortress entirely and look for a Gerudo in white standing next to a gated area. Pay her 10 rupees and you'll be given access to the Gerudo Training Complex. Gerudo Training Complex ----------------------- From the start, go through the left door and defeat the Stalfos within 1:30 to get a key. In the next room, use the Longshot to help you collect all five silver rupees before times up to open the door. Use the Longshot to reach the ledges leading to the door and enter the next room. In the next room, defeat the four Wolfos enemies and use the Lens of Truth to find a secret passage in the wall. Use the Longshot to reach the passage and enter the next room and drop down to the lower level. Shoot an arrow into each of the eyes of the statue to make a chest appear with a key. Then, jump across to the platform by the wall and enter the door to the next room. Here, use the Megaton Hammer and hit the sides of all the statues until you find the switch. Push the switch to eliminate the fire around the chest to get another key. Then, keep hitting the statues around until you find the eye switch on the wall, and shoot an arrow into the eye to open the door. In the next room, get all the silver rupees with the help of your Hover Boots. Push the switch to remove the flames around a silver rupee in the corner, then play the Song of Time near the high ledge to make two blue blocks appear. Climb the blocks to get a key. Then, go across the room to a side room and play the Song of Time there, too. Dive in the water with your Iron Boots and collect all the silver rupees with the help of your Longshot and by taking off your boots to float at times to get a key. Surface at the top and open the chest to get the key, then leave the room. Now, get to the left door and enter the next room. Defeat the Lizalfos and the Beamos statue to get another key. Now, in the next room you're back by the entrance, but enter the door to the right of you instead of leaving. If you follow this path the right way, you'll be able to reach the Ice Arrows in the big chest. Start by opening the door to the left, and then use the Lens of Truth to look up at the ceiling. Climb the fence-like wall and open the chest to get the key, then drop back into the room below. Continue left and open all the doors in your path and you should reach the chest with just enough keys. After you get the Ice Arrow, you can leave the complex. Head down to the gate to the desert and climb up the tall ladder. Talk to the Gerudo guard there and she'll open the gate for you. Now, walk into the Haunted Wasteland. Haunted Wasteland ----------------- When you enter the Haunted Wasteland, put on your Hover Boots and climb onto the nearby crate. Use the Longshot to cross the sand river to reach the other side and continue through, following the flags as you go. Eventually, you'll reach a stone structure, so go up the path surrounding it and climb to the top. Use the Lens of Truth to meet you ghostly guide through the wasteland, and follow the ghost through the desert. He makes very sharp turns, so be ready to turn with him, if you can. Also, there will be enemies along the way, so just avoid them as much as possible to not get left behind by the guide. If you follow the guide through the wasteland successfully, you'll end up in the Desert Colossus. Desert Colossus --------------- When you enter the Desert Colossus, go right and bomb the wall between the two palm trees to reach the Great Fairy's Fountain. After she teaches you Nayru's Love, go back outside and make your way towards the Spirit Temple. Enter the temple, but since you can't enter any of the rooms, go back outside and Sheik will appear. He'll teach you the Requiem of Spirit, which warps you near the Spirit Temple anytime. After he leaves, warp back to the Temple of Time and become a kid again, then warp back to the desert. Once you return to the desert, it's time to enter the Spirit Temple and clear sections accessible only to a child. Spirit Temple (Young Link) -------------------------- Enter the temple and run up he stairs and talk to the Gerudo there. She'll introduce herself as Nabooru and she'll ask you to find the Silver Gauntlets in the temple by crawling through the crawlspace. Defeat the bats and the Armos Knight by using bombs or a couple well-aimed Bombchus, and then enter the door to the left. Defeat the Stalfos Knight, then aim your Boomerang at the flying skull and hit it with your sword to defeat it. Then, throw your Boomerang so it swings around and hits the switch, which drops the grate so you can walk across, then enter the next room. In the next room, destroy ALL the pots leading to the other end of the room, and then walk towards the center of the room. Make a slight turn so that the floating enemy passes you, then run to the other side and go as far to the end of the left platform as possible. Then, shoot the switch with the Slingshot to incinerate the enemy in the fire, and then enter the door to the next room! In the next room, collect all five silver rupees to drop the grate in middle of the fence and walk across it to the other side. Use a Din's Fire or a Deku Stick to light the two unlit torches to make a chest appear. Open the chest to get a key, then enter the door by the two torches and go to the next room. Now, go right and crawl through the small space and go up the stairs. Use the key to open the door and enter the next room. There, defeat the Skulltulas crawling on the wall, and then climb up it to reach the second floor! Defeat the enemies in the room, and then use a Bombchu to destroy the boulder surrounded by light on the rocky wall to shine light on the sun switch to open the door to the next room. In the next room, push the Armos statue right off the ledge onto the switch below to open the door upstairs. Then, run up the stairs and light a Deku Stick by the torch. Jump down to the lowest section of this room and light the two unlit torches to make a chest appear. Take the Map, then climb the wall by the Armos statue you pushed before and run back up the stairs again. This time, enter the door to the next room and go up the stairs to reach the third floor! Collect the five silver rupees and destroy the Beamos statues to reach some of them to make a lit torch appear. Light a Deku Stick, then run around and light the unlit torches to make a chest appear. Take the key and go by the four gray blocks. Pull one out of the way, and then pull the one with the sun switch on top towards the light on the floor to open the door. In the next room, go up the stairs and enter the room with the Ironknuckle. Attack its side and get ready for a long, fierce fight! Defeat it by repeatedly attacking its back and side with your sword while avoiding his battle-axe. After he's defeated, go through the opened door and go outside. Take the Silver Gauntlets from the chest on the ledge and two witches will capture Nabooru. You can't free her now, but she'll be back later in the game. Now, go back to the Temple of Time and become Adult Link again, then warp back to the Spirit Temple entrance. Spirit Temple (Adult Link) -------------------------- This time when you enter the Spirit Temple, go up the stairs and push the large silver block until it drops into a hole with the Silver Gauntlets and enter the next room. There, defeat the Beamos statue, then aim at the ceiling and use the Longshot or an arrow to hit the switch to open the two barred doors. Enter the left room and defeat the Wolfos, and then stand on the Triforce symbol and play Zelda's Lullaby to make a chest appear at the far end of the room. Use the Longshot to reach the chest and open it to get the Compass, then to exit the room, run across the sand below and climb the brick wall. Leave this room and enter the door furthest to your left and enter that room. Collect the five silver rupees to open the door to the next area. In the next area, defeat the Like-Like and open the chest that appears to get a key. Go back to the room with the Beamos statue and enter the middle room using the key you just got. Defeat the Like-Like and dodge the flying pots, then climb the wall at the other end of the room to reach the second floor! In the next room, defeat the hand enemy and its smaller counterparts then push the mirror with the reflection so it points at each of the sun switches on the wall. Keep aiming at the switches until you reveal the one that opens the door, and enter the next room. In the next room, defeat the Armos statue by the door by hitting its side or back, then run up the stairs. Put on your Hover Boots and face the big statue in the room. Use the boots to hover towards the right arm of the statue and land on its hand. On that hand is a Triforce symbol, so play Zelda's Lullaby there to make a chest appear on the other hand. Use the Longshot to reach the chest and get a key, and then drop down to the ground and head to the far end of the room where you entered this area. Look at the ceiling and use the Longshot to hit the target and get pulled back up to the platform and run up the stairs again. Enter the door there, and in that room, defeat the Beamos statue and run up the stairs to the next room. In this room, there are THREE floating enemies, like the one you saw as a child, but there's a much easier way to kill them this time! Use Fire Arrows on each one to defeat them, then enter the door to the next room! In the next room, stand in front of the locked door with your back to it. Then, aim your Longshot at an Armos Knight standing behind the switch nearby so that when it comes alive, it hits the switch! Enter the opened door and go up the stairs to the next area. There, go to the Ironknuckle and attack it by its side and get ready for a fight! (I highly suggest that you have the Biggoron's Sword with you before you fight him.) After you defeat Ironknuckle, enter the next room and you'll be on a ledge outside the temple with a chest. Open the chest to get the Mirror Shield, and then reenter the temple the way you exited it before! Now, backtrack down to the room with the Armos Knight and the switch and get to the far end of that room. Sand in the bright spot on the floor and aim your Mirror Shield so that it reflects the light onto the sun switch. After you open the door, enter the next room and take the key from the chest and leave the room. Enter the door to your right and then cross the next room. This time, enter the left door using a key and enter that room. In the next room, defeat the Beamos statues using bombs and then make your way to the very top of the moving wall. Once you get there, defeat the other two Beamos statues and go through the door and run up the stairs and enter the following door to reach the fourth floor! In the next room, stand on the Triforce symbol and play Zelda's Lullaby to open the door in front of you and enter that room. There, defeat the Torch Slugs using your sword and then pull out your Megaton Hammer and pound ALL of the fake doors in the room. Then, go up to the eye switch on the wall and shoot it with an arrow to make an ice block appear above you. So, to reach it, use the Longshot on the ceiling target to get atop the blocks and hit the switch to make a chest appear on the ground. Open the chest to get the Boss Key, then leave the room. Now, go up the stairs and enter the next room and avoid the flying pots and go by the cell with a switch behind it and use the Spinning Sword Attack to hit it. Go through the door it opens and defeat the Lizalfos and floating skulls and then bomb the wall to the left of the mirror. Then, turn the mirror so it reflects right into the room you just bombed and hits the next mirror. Go to the second mirror and point the reflection so that it faces out of the bars and hits the big mirror panel on the wall. Get back to the room where you hit the switch and drop down to the floor and stand in the light spot on the floor. Reflect the light with your Mirror Shield so it hits the sun switch, which will lower the platform you were standing on to an area high above the second floor. Face the statue-like thing on the wall and while still standing in the light, reflect the light with your shield so it hits the carved face underneath the cobra head to open another door. Use the Longshot on the revealed door to get across the gap to it and enter that door to the next room. There, use the Boss Key to open the door to the Boss's room. Defeat the Ironknuckle in this room and then enter the door behind the throne to reach and fight the REAL boss! Read the Bosses section to find out how to beat the 2 bosses. Then, take the Heart Container and leave the temple through the light. Back in the Chamber of the Sages, the Spirit Sage, Nabooru will give you the Spirit Medallion and tell you to go back to the Temple of Time. Temple of Time -------------- There, you'll meet Sheik again and he'll reveal that he's actually Princess Zelda in disguise! After that, she'll give you the Light Arrows, which help you defeat certain things in Ganon's Castle. After that, Ganon will capture Zelda and bring her to his castle, so now it's on to Ganon's Castle! Get there by going through the ruins of the Market to the path where Hyrule Castle was. Ganon's Castle -------------- Now that you're at the castle, stand at the edge of the plateau facing the entrance to the castle and the Sages will create a Rainbow Bridge for you! Walk across it to enter the castle. Once inside, and go down the hallway and enter the door at then end of this corridor. In the main area, go right and enter the door to reach the Forest section. In the next room, defeat the Wolfos and then use Din's Fire to light the first four torches, then look above the locked door to find the last torch. Shoot a Fire Arrow at the torch to light it and open the door to the next room! In the next room, use the Hover Boots and the Longshot to help you collect the five silver rupees and enter the next room. In this room, shoot the core of the Forest Barrier with a Light Arrow to destroy it, then you'll be warped back to the main area. From there, go down the stairs to your right and enter the Water section behind that door! In the first area of this section, fill a bottle with Blue Fire, and then melt the Red Ice blocking the other door. Then, defeat the ice enemies here and avoid the icicles, fill another bottle to go with Blue Fire, then open the door and enter the next room. In the next room, you'll see two large blocks sitting there, so get to the left side of the one furthest back and push it so it hits the nearby bump. Then, push it so it falls in the hole to the right, now get to the other block. With your back to the wall, push the block so it hits the bump across the room. Push it so it hits the second bump, and then push it all the way across the room so you can reach the switch on the high ledge. Use the Red Ice to get access to the switch, then use the Megaton Hammer to hit it and open the door to the next room. Go left and enter the next room, and destroy the core with a Light Arrow and you'll be sent back to the main area again. Now, make your way right and enter the Shadow section of the castle. In the first room, shoot a Fire Arrow at the torch to make some hidden blocks appear for a short time, so run across to the next real platform. Defeat the Like Like, then turn around and shoot the torch again to light it again. Jump across the gap to the next platform, then run down the ramp and hit the switch. Next, use the Longshot to be pulled up to the chest that appeared above you on the platform and open it to get the Golden Gauntlets! Then, face the inaccessible door and use the Lens of Truth to reveal some more hidden platforms. Walk across and enter the door to the next room. Destroy the core again with another Light Arrow and when you get warped back to the main room again, go right and enter the room here to enter the Fire section. Collect the five silver rupees (one is under the big, silver pillar, which you lift with the Golden Gauntlets, then use the Longshot to reach the door to the next room. Destroy the core and you'll be warped to the main area again, and then go down the stairs to the right. Use the Golden Gauntlets to move the silver pillar and enter the door to reach the Light section of the castle! Use the Lens of Truth to reveal the hidden enemies here, then defeat them to make a chest appear in middle of the room. Open it to get a key, then use it to open the door to the next room. In the next room, stand on the Triforce symbol and play Zelda's Lullaby to make a chest with a key appear. Take the key, and use it to enter the next room, and in that room, collect the silver rupees while avoiding the rolling boulders to open the door to the next room. Walk right through the wall in front of you, and destroy the barrier by shooting a Light Arrow at the core and you'll get warped again to the main area. Now, go right again and up the stairs to reach the Spirit section behind the door. Collect the five silver rupees by moving the Armos statues around so they keep the razor traps from killing you. Use the Longshot to collect the rupees in the air, then enter the open door to the next room. In this room, defeat the two Torch Slug enemies and use the Spinning Sword attack to hit the nearby switch behind the bars to make a chest appear. Open the chest, take the Bombchus, then face the switch further away and use a Bombchu so it goes over the bars and triggers the switch that opens the door to the next room. In the next room, shoot the cobwebs in the ceiling with a Fire Arrow to burn it down, revealing a light shining in the room! Stand in the light and use the Mirror Shield to reflect the light onto the furthest to the LEFT sun switch and then enter the door to the last room. Destroy the final barrier with a Light Arrow, then when you warp back to the main room, the BIG barrier in the room will vanish. Go right and cross the bridge to enter Ganon's Tower. Ganon's Tower ------------- Go up and defeat the numerous enemies around, and be sure to get the Boss Key from one of the rooms on the way up. At the top, enter the last room and get ready for a really long fight! Read the Bosses section to find out how to beat Ganon in both his forms. After that, congratulations on beating Zelda 64! ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 6. Bosses -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Gohma Found: The Great Deku Tree Strategy: This giant one-eyed spider from previous Zelda games is back as a boss! To beat it, shoot it in the eye when it turns red with your Slingshot, then while it's stunned, come in and swing at the eye with the sword. After it becomes able to move again, it'll crawl onto the ceiling and it'll start to make eggs. When the eggs fall, destroy them with your sword. After you destroy all 3 of them, back up and Gohma will fall back down again. Repeat the same procedure until it's defeated. It should take about 10 hits total from your sword to kill it. King Dodongo Found: Dodongo's Cavern Strategy: This giant dinosaur's back from the original Zelda game and it still likes to eat bombs! When it walks towards you, it will open its mouth wide when he gets close enough to you. Throw a Bomb into its mouth and it'll swallow it; it'll explode inside it, hurting it. After it recovers, watch out because it'll roll around the room. Follow it around until it crashes into a wall. When it walks towards you again, throw another Bomb into its mouth. Repeat the process another couple times to defeat it! Barinade Found: Inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly Strategy: This giant jellyfish-like enemy can be really hard if you don't know how to beat it! Defeat it by using Z-Targeting on the huge tentacles on top of it and hitting them repeatedly with your Boomerang. When the small jellyfish things start floating around the room, use your sword to destroy them all. When they spin REALLY FAST around the boss, use the Boomerang and hope it hits the boss, not the things spinning around it! Then, run in and attack with the sword a few times. Repeat the last few steps as needed to defeat this boss! Phantom Ganon Found: Forest Temple Strategy: This battle versus the fake Ganondorf has two different phases. For the first one, he'll ride into one of the identical pictures on the wall, then jump out of another. A couple clones will look like they're coming at you, so stay in the center with the Bow ready, and be ready to shoot at the real phantom when it jumps out. Shoot it 3 times to clear the horse, then the second phase begins. This time, Phantom Ganon will float around the room, sometimes shooting electrical balls at you. Fight back by smacking one of those balls with your Sword, sending it back at the Phantom to cause damage. When he falls, run up and attack directly with the Sword. After you've done this enough times, be careful as Phantom Ganon may charge at you with his spear to cause heavy damage. Avoid that and keep with the main strategy until you defeat him. Volvagia Found: Fire Temple Strategy: This giant dragon that the Gorons fear is the boss of the Fire Temple. When Volvagia pops his head out and swings his mane of fire around, avoid it and pound the head with the hammer. Next, it'll fly high into the air so you can't hurt it. Just avoid the fire and occasional rocks from above. The best way to avoid it is to hang off the side of the platform and you cannot be hit! When his attacking spree is over hop back up and wait for it to pop out, then hit it with your hammer. Repeat the process as described above until it's defeated! Morpha Found: Water Temple Strategy: To defeat this boss, stand along the sides of the room and wait until a tentacle rises from the water. Stand a safe distance away and when the nucleus of the enemy appears inside it, use the Longshot to pull it out, then swing at it with your sword. Repeat this process until it's defeated. Bongo Bongo Found: Shadow Temple Strategy: To defeat Bongo Bongo, shoot one hand with an arrow or two to freeze it. Do that to the other hand to freeze the other hand to expose the eye, which is the weak spot. Shoot the eye with an arrow and then run in and attack with the sword. Then, repeat the process above to defeat it. Twinrova Found: Spirit Temple Strategy: To defeat the bosses, Koume and Kotake, whenever they shoot their spells at you, reflect it with your Mirror Shield at the other sister. Repeat that process until they transform into Twinrova! This time, defeat them by using your Mirror Shield on three spells with the same powers. (e.g. three fire spells/three ice spells) After you collected three spells of the same type, it'll shoot itself back at Twinrova and she'll drop to the floor. Run over and attack with your Master Sword or your Biggoron's Sword if you have it. Repeat that process a few more times to defeat it. Ganon (Part 1) Found: Ganon's Tower Strategy: This is the final boss of the entire game! To defeat Gannondorf in his human form, bounce the energy balls he shoots at you with the sword back at him. Then, when he's paralyzed in mid air, shoot a Light Arrow at him to make him fall to the platform, then run in and attack with your sword. When he gets revived, use the Longshot on the stained-glass windows to get away before he uses a shockwave attack, which will throw you down to an area where you must climb ALL the way up to finish the fight again! Repeat this process a few times until he's defeated, but he's not finished yet! Ganon (Part 2) Found: Ganon's Tower Strategy: Now, follow Zelda all the way out of the tower and defeat the enemies along the way until you reach the end. The tower will collapse and you and Zelda will think it's over, then Gannondorf returns and turns into a beast and he'll knock the Master Sword right out of your hand! To defeat him without it, shoot him in the eyes with a Light Arrow, then while he's stunned, crush his tail with the Megaton Hammer. Repeat this process quite a few times until he falls. Then, the fire surrounding this arena will disappear and you can take your Master Sword back! Repeat the process like before, but instead of using the Megaton Hammer; use your Master Sword. When you run low of magic for your Light Arrows, drink a green potion if you have it or hide behind a pillar and when it breaks, hope there's magic containers in it! Continue with your barrage of Light Arrows into his eyes and cutting of the tail with your sword until he falls again. Zelda will cast a spell and charge up your sword, then run in and attack for the last time! Link will literally cut apart his face; then deliver the final blow RIGHT in the head, thus defeating Ganon and beating the game! If you run out of magic, and you have no magic potions, that if you have the Biggoron's sword you can still hit him in the tail and it takes damage. Another way to defeat him as a beast is like this. He only can hit you if you get in the way of his ax, but if you stay under his legs (I know it sounds funny) you can slip through and hit him in his tail. ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 7. You'll see another one on the vine wall near the lit torch. 60. In the room where the enemies fall from the ceiling, burn the web on the wall, then bomb the wall to find a Skulltula in the next room. Another one is on the wall near the previous one. Forest Temple ------------- 70. In the first room where you kill the Wolfos look at the right side. You'll see some vines so climb up them. Get on the tree and walk to the other one and hop on it. If you look up a little see it and kill it with your Hookshot. 71. Go in the main room where you see the ghosts run away. Head straight through the lamps and cross to the other side and when you get to the door, look around to the right and you'll see it. Kill the gold Skulltula and nab the coin. 72. After you get #2 and the keys to enter the doors, go back to the entrance and go to the left room. Go to the island in the upper-right corner and look up. If you look up enough you'll it the Skulltula. If you have the exact precise aim you can get it now, but if not, you will get it later. 73. Later you will end up in the same room where you got Skulltula #3 but when you do jump on the column. When you walk to the other edge look to the left side and you will see #4, kill it and get it's coin. 74. When you get everything done in the Forest Temple and all you have to do is beat the boss, go in the room where you turn the walls. Keep turning the walls and pressing switches until you get into a room with a Skulltula in it. Look all around the walls and search for the Skulltula. Kill it and get it's coin. Fire Temple ----------- 75. One's in the room with the Like Like in it that eats your stuff. When you kill the slug thing look behind him to find it. Kill it, then steal its coin. 76. In the room with the bridge that runs through the middle of it, get to the ledge with the blue block on it. Play the Song of Time to make the block to move, granting you access to the room you couldn't enter otherwise. Go in that room and defeat the Skulltula. 77. Another is in the room with the maze-type thing and the boulders. When you get to the upper level, look in a room with one of the trapped Goron in it. Free him, get the key, look in the cell, find the spider, kill it, then take the coin. 78. About two rooms after the last Skulltula (a room that is corkscrewed up). When you fire, go in the room and go right beside the cliff. Look to the wall to the left and you see the spider. Kill him and nab his coin. 79. In the very same room as the last one, go up to the place right above the door and look to your right. If you search enough (this one sort of blends in with the surroundings) you should find it. Now you know what to do by now. Ice Cavern ---------- 80. In the room with the Heart Piece and the Compass, look behind one of the columns and you'll see the Skulltula high above you. Use the Hookshot to kill it and take its token. 81. In the room with the silver rupees and the spinning blades, cut down the icicles in the room and you'll find a Skulltula hiding behind them. Then, just kill it with your Hookshot because it's out of reach. 82. In the room where you have to push the blocks around the room, look for the Skulltula on the wall above the pit. Use the Hookshot to kill it and obtain its token. Water Temple ------------ 83. When you get about 1/3rd of the way done through the temple, go to the upper level of water in the main room. Look to the bottom left side with all the Hookshot targets and all that. Go in the room to look around. When you get to the other side of the area and getting past the gate, look on the wall to get an easily found Skulltula. If you can't find it, I can't help you! 84. The next gold Skulltula appears in the caves where the cyclones are. When you get away from all the annoying cyclones, whip out your Fairy Bow or Longshot and search on the opposite side wall and kill the gold Skulltula that resides on a wall. 85. After you get through the entire cyclone hubbub you'll end up back in a room with a water-changing symbol. Look around through the room and with enough looking you should be able to find it on the east wall. 86. Once you get the water to mid-level, go back to the room with the waterfall and the place you have to cross. Look around the right side and the gold Skulltula is yours with your Longshot. 87. Before you get the Boss Key, you should find this. In the area with the boulders rolling through the water, look to your right and you'll see the temple's last gold Skulltula it has to offer. Kill the spider and nab the coin. Kakariko Well ------------- 88. Walk through the wall exactly north of where you get the Compass and you'll find the Skulltula in the hidden room. 89. Walk through the wall on the upper-right side of the room where you got the Compass and walk around the right wall of that room to reach the Skulltula! 90. In the room with the BIG invisible holes, get across that room and enter the door there. You'll end up in a room with a Skulltula. (I advise you have the lens of Truth so you know where those holes are!) Shadow Temple ------------- 91. The first gold Skulltula is in the pit where you have to use the Lens of Truth to see the platforms. Go into the room where the scythe things are invisible, look at the right wall, and the first gold Skulltula should be in there up high. 92. This one's in the room where the bed of spikes drops down and you have to block them with your block. In one of the cells you should see the gold Skulltula. 93. The next one is in the room where you throw the bomb flower into the pot with the blue fire. Once you blow up the pot, look where the pot used to be and on the wall the gold Skulltula should be there. 94. The next one is where you have to use Bonoorru the scarecrow as a target for your Hookshot (right by the ship). Call him on the ledge next to the ship and right by the scarecrow is the gold Skulltula. 95. The last one is in the optional room with the three spinning pots. Blow up all three of the spinning pots and the gold Skulltula should be on the wall exactly like the third one. Spirit Temple (Young Link) -------------------------- 96. In the room where you light the lanterns and part of the gate falls down, cross the now made bridge and on the other side is the gold Skulltula. Kill it with your slingshot and boomerang it's coin in! 97. The next one's in the room with the lizard men. When you climb up the vines turn around and look at the pit. The gold Skulltula should be just near the top. Another very easy Skulltula killed. 98. One's in the room with the difficult Ironknuckle. I won't give tips on killing him but once you do look above the door that opens when you kill him and you should be able to see it, kill it, and take it's coin. Spirit Temple (Adult Link) -------------------------- 99. In the room with the boulders and the blue block that disappears once you play the Song of Time. Don't play the song to the block yet, but do look in all the other spaces and when you search them all you should be able to find the gold Skulltula and once you do kill it. 100. In the room with the giant statue is where the last gold Skulltula in the temple resides. On the left side, play the Scarecrow song and the portable Hookshot target (Bonoorru) should appear. Use him as a target and once you get on that island look on the wall and kill the Skulltula that is there. ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 12. The Trading Process -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= To get the Biggoron's Sword, do the following trading sequences in order: 1. In Kakariko Village, you will get an egg from the girl who raises cuccos. It will soon hatch and Link can take it to a nearby building to wake Talon. Go back to the girl and she will give him Cojiro, a blue cucco. 2. Go to the Lost Woods and you will see a boy on a tree stump. Seeing the cucco will lift his spirits and he will give you an Odd Mushroom to deliver to his grandmother in Kakariko Village. 3. The woman in the potion ship will give Link an Odd Potion in return for the Odd Mushroom. Bring it back to the Lost Woods. 4. When you get back to the Lost Woods, the boy will be gone and a young girl will be in his place. Give her the potion in return for the Poacher's Saw. 5. Go to the carpenter in Gerudo Valley. Give him the Saw and he will give you the Broken Goron's Sword. 6. Make your way up Death Valley and visit Biggoron. He will take the sword and give you a prescription for eye drops from King Zora. 7. Go to Zora's Domain and bring him the prescription. He will give you an Eyeball Frog, the main for the potion. Bring the Frog to Lake Hylia. 8. Bring the Frog to the Professor at Lake Hylia. He will turn the Frog into the eye drops. 9. Quickly get back to Death Mountain and give the eye drops to Biggoron. He will give Link a Claim Check for the sword. 10. Wait 3 days and return to Biggoron. Give him the Claim Check and he will give you Biggoron's' Sword. Biggoron's Sword is the most powerful weapon in the game. It is twice as strong as the Master Sword is. However, it is so huge that you cannot use the sword and the shield at the same time. ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 13. Great Fairy Fountains -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 1. On top of Death Mountain by Death Mountain Crater, bomb the wall next to it and enter the cave. Play Zelda's Lullaby (like all fountains) and she will give you the spinning sword attack and gives you the magic meter because the sword attack uses magic energy. 2. Once you have the bomb bag go to Hyrule Castle and instead of sneaking in the castle once you get on the opposite side of the gate, go right into the dead end with the sign by it. Blow up the huge boulder and enter the fountain and play Zelda's Lullaby. You will get Din's Fire. 3. Go to Zora's Fountain and instead of going into Jabu-Jabu's Belly; go past him until you reach land in the upper right hand corner of the fountain. Then, blow up the boulder to reveal the entrance to the fountain. Play Zelda's Lullaby on the Triforce symbol and the fairy will give you Farore's Wind. 4. After the Fire Temple is completed (or once you have the Megaton hammer) Hookshot back to the entrance of Death Mountain Crater, but once you get past the broken bridge you should see a boulder that stands in your way of a great fairy. A Megaton Hammer should fix the boulder, then enter the Fountain. When you play the Lullaby on the symbol your magic meter gets doubled (do this before you acquire the Lens of Truth because of how long you use the thing you'll need all the magic). 5. When you are in the Desert Colossus area, search around on the right side and look for a crack in a wall between two palm trees. Bomb it and you'll enter the Great Fairy's fountain. Play the Lullaby again to get Nayru's Love. It is a force field that uses 12 MP and since it comes so late in the game, it really doesn't help you all THAT much. But it is great for the Ironknuckles you will soon meet in the Spirit Temple. 6. Once you get the Golden Gauntlets from the Shadow room in Ganon's Castle, leave the Castle. Remember where you got Din's Fire (see great Fairy #2) and go back to that same spot. Get the boulder out of the way with the gauntlets and then what you do is go to the huge, black pillar thing and pick it up and throw it. Go inside the Fairy's fountain and play Zelda's lullaby again and she gives you a white coloring on the outside of your hearts but that isn't all it does! Secrets/Tips and Tricks -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ============== Barbecued Link ============== Play through your game as normal until Ganon, the final boss. After you have knocked Ganon down the first time, retrieve the master sword. Get the master sword from Zelda but instead of going back to face Ganon, go the opposite way and move away from Ganon. There should be a piece of land that is near Zelda, which juts away from the floating arena. Move back in it until you hit an invisible wall. Turn around in place until you are facing Ganon and equip your bow and arrow. Aim carefully and fire an arrow at Ganon's tail. If the trick worked Ganon should get up and Link should be engulfed in flames! ================= Bomb Bag Upgrades ================= 30 Bombs: In Goron City on either the 2nd or 3rd floor, there is a rolling Goron. On that floor, look for a sign. Stand by it and when the Goron comes near it, place and bomb, time it right. When it hits the Goron, he will give you a bigger bomb bag to hold 30 bombs. YOU MUST DO THIS ONE FIRST! 40 Bombs: In the market when you are a kid, play Bombchu Bowling. The lady will give you random prizes, starting off with a 1/4 heart. Keep playing until you see a bag-like thing. That is a bomb bag holding 40 bombs. ========================= Catching the Hylian Loach ========================= To get the Loach at the Lake Hylia fishing pond, go to the fishing pond as an adult, and then get the sinking lure. After that, put your Zora Tunic on and your Iron Boots and walk under the water. Look for an eel (That's the Loach). Then, stand on the log in the middle of the pond and Loach and leave it there. When the Loach starts to move press B a couple times and the Loach should go after the lure, then reel him in. He weighs 35 pounds! ========================== Cheating at the Cucco Game ========================== Throw all of the "normal cuccos" between the table and the stairs before you even speak to Talon. He then throws three "super" chickens into an empty room! (You see the others will actually stay put once you toss them back there.) ================ Debug/Error Mode ================ Start a game in the Temple of Time, then gently and SLOWLY pull up on the left side of the game pak. If you do it slow enough, the computer will become lagged, Link will jump all over the screen, and the sound will become very corrupted. If you let this happen for a few seconds, the N64's processor will become lagged and the game will lock up; there's going to be a small yellow bar that'll appear in the top-left of the screen. When you get the small yellow bar to appear, there are some commands that you need to input on the controller to get the "debug" code to appear on the screen. (This will also show the time and date that your particular game was made.) Enter these button combos to make the code appear onscreen: 1: L button + R button + Z button 2: Control Pad Up + C-Down 3: C-Up + Control Pad Down 4: Control Pad Left + C-Left 5: C-Right + Control Pad Right 6: A button + B button + Start button The debug/error code won't be shown unless you push each button listed. Example: in the first step, you must push the Z button while HOLDING the L and R buttons. ====================== Deku Seed Bag Upgrades ====================== 40 Seeds: When you enter the Lost Woods via the Kokiri Forest, head right and take out the Fairy Slingshot. Shoot the middle of the circular "gong-like" thing hanging from the tree and a Deku Shrub will give you a bigger bag, which lets you carry 40 Deku Seeds. 50 Seeds: In the Market, play the shooting game where you must hit 10 giant rupees to win a prize. Keep playing and winning until you get the biggest bag, which lets you hold 50 Deku Seeds (maximum). =================== Get 100+ Skulltulas =================== For this cheat, make sure you have learned the Song of Storms or else it won't work. You need to be a kid for this, too. Go to Hyrule castle and sneak past the guards. Jump in the water by the castle and float by the second group of guards. Climb out of the water, and there will be a tree in front of you. This tree is near where you wake up Talon with the chicken. Walk up to the tree, and play the Song of Storms and a secret hole will emerge. Go inside and there are three walls you can destroy with bombs. On one wall there is a Gold Skulltula. Back up so that you are right in front of the light that will take you back up. Destroy the Skulltula, then take out your Boomerang. Aim for the golden token and throw. As soon as your Boomerang starts coming back, do a backflip into the light so you go back to the surface. the blue screen telling you that you destroyed a Skulltula will come up, and maybe a few words, but that's it. When you reappear at the surface do this process again, and the Skulltula will be there again. By doing this, you can get over 100 Skulltulas and you can cash them in the House of Skulltula for things. If you happen to destroy the Skulltula and don't jump out in time, turn off the game without saving otherwise the cheat will be useless! ======================= Getting Epona the Horse ======================= Getting Epona can be very tricky at times. This section will help you beat Mr. Ingo and win Epona to keep! 1. Learn Epona's Song. As Young Link talk to Malon in the horse corral in Lon Lon Ranch after meeting Princess Zelda. Talk to her again and show your ocarina and she'll teach you Epona's Song. 2. Become Adult Link and get at least 70 rupees. 3. Talk to Mr. Ingo outside the corral at Lon Lon Ranch and pay 10 rupees to ride the horse. Instead of getting on the horse provided, play Epona's Song and Epona will run up to you. Ride her around the corral to practice. Wait until the time is up. 4. Talk to Mr. Ingo again and pay to ride again. Play Epona's Song and get on Epona. This time, walk up to Mr. Ingo while on Epona and use L-Targeting to talk to him. He'll challenge you to a race with a 50 rupee wager. 5. Win the race against Mr. Ingo. He'll challenge you to a second race. Win again and you'll get Epona. 6. Use A button to get Epona running really fast and jump over any fence to escape the ranch. Race Tips: Racing Mr. Ingo can be tough. Here's how to win. Hold forward on the Control Stick as soon as the race begins. Use 1 carrot (push A to use a carrot) and wait for it to come back before using it again to keep up with Mr. Ingo. Hug the fence and wait for him to move out of your way. Then use up all the carrots you have EXCEPT ONE to speed Epona up and pass him. Wait until a second carrot appears and use it, and then keep doing this to keep ahead of Mr. Ingo. NEVER USE YOUR LAST CARROT! Just keep using the second-to last carrot. If you use the last one you'll slow down big time and lose. ==================== Gossip Stone Secrets ==================== Try blowing up one of those one-eyed stone statues with a bomb. It will flash blue and red and "blast off" like a rocket! Use the Megaton Hammer to flatten a gossip stone or Din's Fire to stretch it out! To get the Fat Fairy which ills Your Energy and Magic Meter, go to any of the Gossip Stones, and play the Song of Storms and a Big Red Fairy should come out. (You can't catch this Fairy in a bottle) To get Red Fairies easily, go to a Gossip Stone and hit it with your sword and play Zelda's Lullaby. You should see 2 or 3 Fairies come out. ================= Hidden 200 Rupees ================= Short 200 rupees in Zelda 64? Stand in the center of the rock circle at the entrance to Goron City and play the Song of Storms. Go in and open the treasure chest, and you'll be 200 rupees richer! As far as I know, this only works once. ======================================= Hidden Leecher Enemy in Desert Colossus ======================================= I've found a hidden enemy in the Gerudo Desert in front of the Desert Colossus. Keep fighting Leechers around there as Adult link. I find doing a weak spin slash works best. Eventually a Purple Leecher that's bigger and more powerful will appear. Kill it and you can get alot of money with the lowest being 5 Rupees, and the highest being 60. ============================= Hidden Room in Ganon's Castle ============================= In Ganon's castle on the bottom of the room where all the doors are there is a secret room with different colored rocks outside of it. Use the lens of truth to see your way in. There are 4 Deku Salesmen things that sell you: red potion, green potion, bombs, and arrows. Also in the room are many fairies that you may bottle or use right away. ============================ Invincible Deku Stick Glitch ============================ If you hit something with a Deku Stick that bounces you back, and it's near a cliff. When you break the Deku Stick and get knocked off, and end up hanging on the edge of the cliff. Your Deku Stick will turn out invincible, but short. The Kokiri Forest (Link's town) is the only place I've tried it at this point. The specific place in the Kokiri Forest is at the one-eyed statue that tells the time up by the entrance to the lost woods. Get in front of the cliff with your back to it, and face the statue. Don't get TOO close, or you won't be bounced off the cliff. Smack the statue with the Deku Stick, and you'll get knocked off the cliff. Climb back up off the ledge and you'll have your invincible Deku Stick! =================================== Magic Bean Soft Soil Spot Locations =================================== 1. In Kokiri Forest, find the patch to the right of the Shop. 2. Enter the Lost Woods and go left, then left again past the Skull Kid to find the patch on the ledge. 3. Enter the Lost Woods like before, but instead, go right, left, right, left, and left again. Enter the area and you'll find the patch at the right side of the room. 4. At Zora's River, you'll see the bean hole right next to the guy that sells the beans to you! 5. Go to the Kakariko Graveyard and left to find the patch. 6. (To reach this patch of land, you need to have learned the Bolero of Fire from Sheik.) Warp to the Death Mountain Crater and plant the bean in the nearby patch. 7. On your way up the Death Mountain Trail, look for the patch in front of the entrance to the Dodongo's Cavern. 8. When you enter the Gerudo Valley, grab a Cucco and jump off the bridge's RIGHT side. Then, steer to the left side of the canyon and you'll land on a long piece of land. Look for the patch next to the cow and the Gerudo guard. 9. At Lake Hylia, look for the patch of land next to the Lakeside Laboratory. 10. (To reach this patch, you need to have learned the Requiem of Spirit from Sheik.) Warp to the Desert Colossus by playing the Requiem of Spirit and head up to the entrance of the Spirit Temple. You'll find the patch to the left of the temple's entrance. ============ More Bottles ============ First equip a bottle, then go find something to put in a bottle (example: fish, bug, blue fire, fairy, or anything else you can put inside a bottle). Now, hit the C Button to catch the item and hit start directly after hitting C button. Select an item you do not want (Claim Check is recommended) and equip it instead of the bottle you were catching the item with. Press start again and you will see Link still catching the item. Now you have an extra bottle. Do this on all of your weapons and you will have 24 bottles! (Note: do NOT save after doing this or else you CANNOT get your weapons back!) ========================= Princess Ruto as a Weapon ========================= While inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly, you can use Princess Ruto as a weapon! Just throw her at an enemy! ============= Purple Rupees ============= When you hit an enemy, any enemy outside of Ganon's castle you will get a purple rupee. Also when you can, there is a spot in Gerudo Fortress where you drop to the bottom left of you on a ledge, not the ground when you are escaping form the jail. Drop there, walk in and when you get to the barricade, Hookshot over to it. Continue and destroy the box in the hideout above the jail, and in it is a purple ruby. =============== Quiver Upgrades =============== 40 arrows: In Kakariko Village as an adult, look for the building that was under construction as a child. By now it will be finished and the Slingshot archer and turned into an arrow archer. Get all ten rupees and you will get a quiver that holds 40 arrows. 50 arrows: This one is much, much, much more difficult. In Gerudo's Fortress, look for the Horseback Archery Range. Call Epona and talk to the woman while on Epona. She will offer you to play the archery game. Smash all the pots (100 points each) and try and shoot all bulls eyes on the targets (100 points for a bulls-eye and the other not so good hits vary in accuracy). Get above 1000 points and you get a heart piece. Get above 1500 (3 words, practice makes perfect) and you get the last upgrade to arrows the largest quiver which holds 50 arrows! ============================== Reduce Travel Time when Moving ============================== If you want to cut your time in half when you cross the Hyrule Field, go into L-Targeting, and sidestep your way through! Honestly, it'll decrease your time by 2/3rds; I timed it! ===================== Reviving Broken Signs ===================== When you use your sword to cut apart a sign, it usually stays broken! After you've chopped them apart, you can still revive them. To do that, play Zelda's Lullaby in front of the pieces of the broken sign to make them come together again! ============= Secret Rupees ============= You can find secret rupees in a couple places. One is in Kakariko Village as Young Link. Get on the white beam the carpenter is running on, and when you get to the end of it, you get a lot of rupees. The other secret is at the drawbridge in front of Hyrule Castle. Stand on it and when it goes up at night, you can get rupees in the middle and the two sides at the top of the bridge. Both of these tricks only work once as far as I can tell. ================================= Secrets in Zora's Domain/Fountain ================================= Go to Zora's Fountain as an adult, near where the fairy fountain is, there should be a boulder. Pick up the boulder (need silver gauntlets) and you will find a yellow boulder right under! Bomb or hammer that one and you will find a secret passageway! Go in, and put on the lens of truth, you will four big spiders (not Gold Skulltulas), go up the ladder and you will be at the mere top of Zora's fountain! Nobody knows why this place is here. Go to Zora's Domain as a kid. Climb down the ladder and dive with the golden scale. Go as far as you can near the surface of the farther wall. You will see a secret opening! How do you get in? No one knows. =========================== Secrets of the Forest Stage =========================== In the Lost Woods, there's an area where you run into a couple Business Scrubs near a grassy area. Go into the grassy area, then walk towards the butterflies and you'll fall into a secret grotto. Put on the Mask of Truth and walk towards the front of the "stage" to make the Deku Scrubs appear. You'll get some rupees from them this time, but if you leave and re-enter this place again, they'll attack you BADLY! Wear the Skull Mask for them and they will allow you to pick up more Deku Sticks. (Note: NEVER wear the Keaton Mask; they hate it!) ============ The 7 Cuccos ============ Here's a list on where you will find the lady's 7 cuccos in Kakariko Village: 1. You find one near the entrance to the village. 2. You find another near the pen walking around. 3. When you enter the village, roll into the crate at the bottom of the stairs near the Potion Shop. 4. Take a Cucco that you've caught and walk up the stairs where the half built building is, then fly across the gap to reach the Cucco on the ledge by the House of Skulltula. 5. You find one wandering near the gate leading to Death Mountain. 6. Take a Cucco you caught, and go up the stairs that lead to the inside of the windmill. Get a running start, and jump towards the big fence. When you're next to it, let go of the cucco and then climb onto the top of the fence, and you'll find the other cucco. 7. Throw the cucco you just found over the fence after you go up the steps in back of the Potion Shop. Then, climb the ladder by the wall and you'll see the last one by the windmill. =========== The 10 Poes =========== To get the 4th Bottle, you must capture the 10 Poes as Adult Link in Hyrule Field. Defeat them with arrows, then capture them in Bottles. Give them to the weird man in the guardhouse in the Market to gain points. Gain 1000 points (100 per special Poe) to win the Bottle. Here's a list of where those 10 Poes can be found: 1. The first one is located in front of Hyrule Castle. Run with Epona towards Lon Lon Ranch from the gate and one should appear. 2. Next is going south near Gerudo Valley. Go to the right of the white tree and get back on the road to Lake Hylia. One should appear under the cliff of the entrance. 3. Same place as #2, but don't go around the tree. Just stay on the path and one should appear (Only one appears at a time). 4. There is a stone wall near Lon Lon Ranch (not the one connecting to the ranch; it's towards the east). Stand at the corner and one shoul eventually appear. 5. Near the east of Lon Lon Ranch (There's got to be a connection), there is a fork in the road separated by a silver rock. From the north, go to the left of the rock and through the fence's opening. One should appear. 6. In the east of Hyrule Field, there is a clump of trees south of the Kokiri Forest entrance. Weave through the trees to find at least one Big Poe. 7. The next Big Poe is in the same area as the stream west of Hyrule Castle. At the lone tree, from the east, go towards the west and go to the left of the tree. Continue until you see it appear. It will appear on the other side of the stream. 8. In that same clump of trees as #6, there is a white tree at the far west. Go west and to the right of that tree. One should appear. 9. In the west of Hyrule Field, there is a short stream near a part of Hyrule Castle. Go to the stream, find a white tree, and go to the left of it. One should appear. 10. This one's impossible to find if you don't know what you're looking for! There is a small cliff to the south of the entrance to Kakariko Village. Take Epona, go on top of the cliff, ride right up next to the railing, get your Fairy Bow ready. One pops out from under you and starts running. Take good aim and shoot it twice before it hits the wall and disappears. You will only have about two seconds. ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 16.
