Morpher Info

Morphers in FFTA are one of the "new" creations of the Final Fantasy series, and they might appear in future games made by Square. One thing that makes them unique is the type of 'weapon' they use, a "Soul". Read on to learn more.

How to obtain the Morpher job class: You need to have learned 5 Beastmaster "Action Abilities". These can be learned from the weapon-type "Instrument". Also keep in mind that some jobs can only be learned from certain character types. In this case, the Morpher job can ONLY be learned by "Nu Mou" characters.

- Without a monster to "morph" into, Morphers are pretty much worthless. Rather, you will want to "Capture" some monsters before bothering to use a Morpher, for the sake of your Morpher actually being helpful during battle. When you Capture a monster, it gets placed into the "Monster Bank". Morphers can only morph into monsters that are availible in the monster bank, hence why you need to also have the "Capture" ability in order to make Morphers worth using.
- To get a complete guide about the "Capture" ability, a list of monsters to catch, how to become a "Hunter" (to get the "Capture" ability), click here.

Monster Bank:

- "Cyril" is where the Monster Bank is located.
- Once at the Monster Bank, you will be given the option ("List") to see what monsters you have captured.
- There are a total of 20 monsters in FFTA that you can capture:
- Ahriman
- Antlion
- Big Malboro
- Bomb
- Coeurl
- Cream
- Firewyrm
- Flan
- Floateye
- Goblin
- Grenade
- Icedrake
- Jawbreaker
- Jelly
- Lamia
- Lilith
- Malboro
- Red Cap
- Red Panther
- Thundrake
- You can raise each monster's stats, which will in turn make your Morpher more powerful during battle, when they morph into the monster which has had its stats raised.
- It takes specific items for each monster, to raise their stats. Some items certain monsters like, others the monster dislikes. If a monster likes or really likes what you feed it, the monster will level up quicker than it would if you feed it items it dislikes.
- Before you raise the monster's stats, you must first raise their "emotion" towards you.
- The 'easiest' way to raise their stats is to just feed them between 20 and 25 "CureAll"s. (the total needed to raise their emotion to its highest, varies from monster to monster).
- Once the monster's emotion is displayed as "I Love You", as opposed to "Grr", "Gimme", or "Thanks", then you are ready to start raising the monster's levels/stats.
- You raise the monster's emotions the exact same way you raise its stats: feed it "CureAll"s. After feeding it, you will see a display message saying that the monster liked or enjoyed what you fed it. With enough feeding, the monster's level will increase, thereby raising its stats.
- ONE exception to CureAlls being the quickest easiest way: Malboros dont like CureAlls, so the next best thing to feed them is "Elixer"s.
- Its recommended that you either spend all your money on feeding/raising Malboros FIRST or making Malboros the LAST monster you 'work on', for the sake that Elixers are very expensive.
- The item CureAll can be purchased at the shop in Baguba Port. However, just like the "Shop List" section (click here) says, you must get 3 shop upgrades before this item is even availible for you to purchase.

Learned Abilities:

The Morpher is unique in the game, also in that the structure of the abilities to choose from has one extra hierarchy of Action Abilities. As compared to all other Jobs and abilities associated with them, in FFTA: The Morpher's Action Abilities all have their own sets of Action Abilities. As far as making use of the primary and secondary Action Abilities, within the game: Depending on equipment and other variables, the Morpher can choose (at least) 2 primary and (at least) 2 secondary Action Abilities (that are associated with the primary A-As), to use in battle. It will probably make more sense if you just look at the table chart below.

- "Damage > MP", learned from "Judo Uniform" (300 AP)

Souls:

Below is the list of monsters you can learn and "master", to morph into. Each has its respective properties, AP cost to learn, and tips associated with that monster. Basically, as a Morpher, you must "Equip" a Soul (1-handed 'weapon') in order to learn that monster's abilities and such.

Other Morpher Hints Tips and Tricks:

- The "best" morph-monster to be is the Flan. After feeding the Flan enough to raise its levels high enough, it can do more magic damage than a 'real' Black Mage.
- Assuming you've mastered all abilities and all your monsters are maxxed out on their levels:
- The best weapon/Soul to equip is EITHER the Lamia for the extra Defense, OR the Malboro or Bug for the null-status abilities.
- The best armor to equip is EITHER the Bone Plate (best Defense), the Sage Robe (best Magic Defense), or the Black Robe (best Magic Power).
- The best helmet to equip is definately the Acacia Hat (best Magic Defense).
- The best shield is arguably the Genji Shield, however the Reverie Shield is almost as good. (You need the "Shieldbearer" Ability to equip a shield with a Morpher.)
- The best boots are EITHER the Germinas Boots (best Jump), or the Ninja Tabi (best Move).
- The best gauntlets or jewelry really can not be defined, as it varies from mission to mission and from player to player (game playing tactics are different for everyone). If you really want my input, I'd suggest the "Angel Ring".
